History Newark Firemen Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1940 to serve the financial needs of the members of the Fire Department of the City of Newark, New Jersey.  We are a non-profit, member-owned and operated financial institution. A credit union is a cooperative organized to serve a specific group of people rather then the general public.  This allows members to pool their resources for the common benefit. Our main purpose is to provide for the financial needs of our membership.  As a non-profit organization, our members are rewarded with lower loan interest rates, higher investment and savings rates and member-friendly products and services.
