Questions Anyone?

Categories: News
With a changing of the guard (or in this case banking systems), comes questions?  Do we have to register all over again?  Do we have to turn paperwork for this into the credit union?  Never fear.  We have a list of the most commonly asked questions regarding the changeover below.
  • What is a Data Processing Conversion?
Our Data Processor is the computer system we use to maintain member’s accounts and to process transactions.  We have chosen to upgrade our computer system to help improve efficiency and to enable us to offer new products  and services to our members.
  • When is the Data Processing Conversion?
The Data processing is scheduled to begin at 12:00pm on Friday, March 28, 2014 and will continue on Monday, March 31, 2014.  It is expected to be completed by opening of the business day on Tuesday, April 1, 2014.  NFFCU will be closed during the conversion.
  • Will I receive my statements as usual?
You will not receive your March statement at the usual time.  You should receive the last statement for the old data processing system by mid-April.  Dividends will be paid as of this statement period.
Your April statement will be produced by our new data processing system.  Your April statement will have a new look.  Please review it for accuracy and report any discrepancies immediately.
  • Will my member number change?
Yes, your base member number will change from a four digit number to a five digit number.  For example, if your old number is #1/8585, the new number will become 18585.  You will also see changes to your share, certificate, IRA and loan identification numbers (called suffixes).  You will see the new suffixes on Home Banking, Telephone Banking and on your statement.
  • Will I need to reorder new checks?
No, your current checks will continue to work with your account.  You will however, see a slightly different number at the bottom of your checks when you do place an order after the conversion.
  • Will the Credit Union’s routing and transit (ABA) number change?
No, our routing number and transit number will not change.  You will need them in order to set up payroll direct deposit or when setting up electronic withdrawals from your account.
  • Will I have access to my funds during the conversion?
You will have limited access during the conversion.  Home Banking, Telephone Banking and Bill Pay WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE until Tuesday, April 1, 2014. ATM cards and Debit cards will be available with limited access.  Please make arrangements to have the cash you need prior to conversion.  You will still have access to writing checks and using your NFFCU credit card.
  • Will my home banking change?
Yes, and we are very excited about this change.  Beginning Tuesday, April 1, 2014, you can log in to our new Home Banking system via our websit, and clicking on the It’s Me 247 button.  You will be required to re-enroll.   Enter your member number and your temporary password (the last four digits of your SSN).  For security purposes, you will be prompted to choose a permanent password as well as set up security questions in order to finish logging in the first time.
  • What is Telephone Banking?
Telephone banking is a new option that will allow you to access account balances, retrieve a list of cleared checks, review recent transactions, transfer funds and more!  To access telephone banking, you will be given an 800 number to call.  The first time you access your information, your PIN will be he last four digits of your social security number. For security purposes, you will be prompted to choose a permanent PIN in order to complete the set up process.
  • Will my direct deposit/payroll change?
No, you should not see any changes to your direct deposit or payroll.  Any distributions that you had established prior to conversion should be set to distribute into the same accounts.  Please review your account for accuracy and report and discrepancies immediately!
  • Will my electronic withdrawals change?
No, any electronic withdrawals you had set up prior to conversion should continue to route properly to your account.  However, please note your new share suffixes on Home Banking, Telephone Banking or your statement so that the new electronic withdrawals you set up in the future will have the correct numbers.
  • Will my NFFCU credit card change?
No, your credit card will not be affected by the conversion.
  • Will my Bill Pay change?
With the exception of some upgrades, your bill pay service will not change.  All of your existing Payees and history will convert to the new system.  You will notice that you will no longer need to sign in to Bill Pay with a separate log in.  Simply log in to It’s Me 247 and select the Pay My Bills icon.
